Samastipur Kshetriya Gramin Bank was established on 12th May, 1980, Under the Regional Rural Banks Act, 1976. It is sponsored by the State Bank of India, the premier banking institution of the country. It operates in Samastipur district which is located in between the Ganges and the Budhi Gandak rivers in northern part of Bihar. The farmers of the district are being benefited with perennial source of irrigation by virtue of many important rivers viz. Gandak, Koshi, Kamla Balan, Ganga and Baya passing through the district, besides a low water table. Samastipur district is dependent mainly on agriculture. The farmers of the district are laborious, soil is fertile and productive. Dairy activates are becoming popular with the help and infrastructure support extended by Mithila Milk Union. The South-western and North-Easter regions of the district get affected by flood which affects teh agricultural activities of the area.
