Unique Identification Authority of India

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been created as an attached office under the Planning Commission. Its role is to develop and implement the necessary institutional, technical and legal infrastructure to issue unique identity numbers to Indian residents. On June 25th 2009, the Cabinet also created and approved the position of the Chairperson of the UIDAI, and appointed Mr. Nandan Nilekani as the first Chairperson in the rank and status of a Cabinet Minister. Mr. Ram Sewak Sharma has been appointed the Director General.

The role that the Authority envisions is to issue a unique identification number (UID) that can be verified and authenticated in an online, cost-effective manner, and that is robust enough to eliminate duplicate and fake identities.

Educational Qualification: BE/ BTECH (Computers, IT)

Work Experience:  2-4  years  experience in  managing  IT support/ Hardware platforms/ Software applications/ Web development, and user support.

Roles & Responsibilities: The candidate must support the IT need and facilities management work of the Regional office of the UIDAI including:

  • Maintenance of the IT systems, hardware, printers, software applications, LAN, Communication room etc.
  • Support  vendor  management  activities for desktops/ laptops/ network/ communication equipment/data card.
  • Supervise and manage the Communication room & IT equipment and accessories installed therein including maintenance of logs and entry registers etc.
  • Manage  all  desktops/laptops/related  patch updates;  manage  AMCs  for  hardware;  track software licenses and renewals for the same
  • Undertake  data  entry  work  as  and  when required  and  impart  training  to  UIDAI  staff  in various  information  systems,  data  management and computing techniques
  • Interface  with  IT  firms  and  MSP  engaged  by UIDAI  for  implementation of  the project, as and when asked
