Assistant Commandant Technical Branch (Engineering and Electrical) i) Degree in Naval Architecture/Marine Mechanical/ Electrical/Tele-Communication & Electronics/ Design/ Production/ Aeronautical / Control Electrical) Engineering or Equivalent Qualification, disciplines in any of the above, recognised by All India Institute of Engineers or Marine Engineering graduates of IMET Kolkata,
or
ii) In Possession of Government of India, Ministry of Surface Transport Certificate of Competency as 1st class Engineer of Motor ship or other similar certificate recognised by the Government,
or
iii) Possesses final examination certificate of the College of Marine Engineering under the Department of Surface Transport, Government of India,
or
vi) Have passed section ‘A’ & ‘B’ of Institute of Engineers (India) Examination in any of disciplines listed at sl. no. (i).

Note :
The upper age limit will be relaxed as per Govt of India rules in vogue.
The candidates is eligible to apply only for one post. More than one application received from a candidate shall be liable for rejection.
The candidates who have already applied in response to previous advertisement within last three months need not apply again.

Medical Standards:
1. Height :
i) Asst Commandant (GD) : Candidate must have a minimum height 157 cms which may be reduced by 5 cms in the case of Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese( including those from Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura) Garhwal, Sikkim, Local tribes of A & N islands and 2 cms in case of candidates from Lakshadweep, mainland settlers in Andaman and Nicobar.
ii) Asst Commandant Technical branch (Engineering and Electrical) : Candidate must have a minimum height 157 cms which may be reduced by 5 cms in the case of Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese( including those from Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura) Garhwal, Sikkim, Local tribes of A & N islands and 2 cms in case of candidates from Lakshadweep, mainland settlers in Andaman and Nicobar.

2.Weight:Proportionate to the Height and Age, + 10 % acceptable.
3.Chest : Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 cms
Eye Sight
i) Asst Commandant (GD) - 6/6 (Good Eye) and 6/9 (Bad Eye) without glasses.
ii) Asst Commandant (Pilot) and Asst Comdt Pilot entry for Commercial Pilot License (CPL) holder for short service appointment - 6/6(Both Eyes) without glasses
iii) Asst Commandant (Tech) - 6/12 (Good Eye) and 6/36 (Bad Eye)

Probation : Two years or till completion of training whichever is later.

Training : The basic training for Asst Comdt (GD)/GD(P/N)CPL/Tech) in Jan 2010 in Indian Naval Academy , Ezhimala Kerala. The cost of training including books and reading materials will be borne by the Indian Coast Guard.

Advice and Guidance:

As we are aware that this is a very difficult phase of life when we are stuck with a question "WHAT NEXT".

Our lives have become such that we have been forced to do what ever is the need of hour . Everything that we desire to achieve can never be as simple as we find it . So guys just tighten up your seat belts and get ready to work hard and in the right direction to achieve what you feel is right for you as a career .

I'm no one to help you figure out and make you decide what interest's you , but can just give you an idea of what can be a little useful to you in setting your goals right .

Excellent Masters Fellowships in the US by Fulbright-Nehru - 2010-2011 for students at selected U.S. colleges to go after their btech degree.
Master degree program for Btech grauduates to pursue after their btech at selected U.S. colleges and universities in the areas of usiness Administration, Communication Studies, Economics, Environment and Public Administration.

OPTION FOR: Btech Graduates or others who have completed the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree, have at least 3 years work experience. The fellowships, for one to two years, will provide funding for tuition and fees, round-trip airfare, and living and related costs in support of the recipient's graduate study in the U.S.
