Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) was founded on February 10th 1937, by Shri.M.Ct.M. Chidambaram Chettyar, a pioneer in many fields – Banking, Insurance and Industry with the twin objectives of specialising in foreign exchange business and overseas banking. IOB had the unique distinction of commencing business on 10th February 1937 (on the inaugural day itself) in three branches simultaneously – at Karaikudi and Chennai in India and Rangoon in Burma (presently Myanmar) followed by a branch in Penang.

The Composition of the Board of Directors of a Bank is governed by “The Nationalised Banks (Management and Miscellaneous Provisions) Scheme 1970” read with “The Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) and Financial Institutions Laws (Amendment) Act 2006” and amendment to the vide Extraordinary Gazette Notification dated 19.02.2007 of the Central Government.

Educational Background: Graduation from a recognised university with minimum 60% Marks.(For Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PC category minimum 55% Marks). Computer literacy shall be an essential qualification, which the candidate must either possess before or acquire within six months of joining the Bank.
Desirable Profile: Diploma in Banking & Finance (DBF) from Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) is a desirable qualification besides the above entry level qualification.
