BE/ BTECH (Electrical / Power Engineering/ Electronics) required in Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC).

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) was established on August 5, 1999 under the Electricity Regulatory Commission Act, 1998. The said Act was superceded
by Electricity Act (EA), 2003. The Commission has continued to function under Section 82 of the Electricity Act, 2003, wherein the role and functions of the  Commission have been
elaborated. The functions of the Commission are quasi judicial, quasi legislative and executive. A copy of the Electricity Act, 2003, Regulations notified by the Commission, Orders released till date  by the Commission and other related information is available on the  MERC’s  website.

Positions Available:  Regulatory Officers in the following fields as-

  • Regulatory Officer (Technical)
  • Regulatory Officer (Renewable Energy)

Educational Qualification:

Regulatory Officer (Technical)—>   BE/ BTECH ( Electrical/ Power Engineering) from a recognized university. 

Regulatory Officer (Renewable Energy)—>  BE/ BTECH (Electrical/ Electronics and Power) from reputed university recognized by UGC / AICTE with minimum 60% marks in
their final examination and a good academic record  OR

M.E./M.Tech in Energy Science and Engineering/Power System/Renewable Energy such as M.Tech in Wind/Solar/Biomass energy from reputed University/Institute recognized by UGC/AICTE with minimum 60% marks in their final examination and a good academic record.

Work Experience:

Regulatory Officer (Technical)—>   Minimum 3 years experience in Power Sector/Electricity Utility/Licensee  Regulatory Commission;  Preference would be given to the candidates having experience in Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, and ability in Economic Analysis, Modeling and Statistical techniques.

Regulatory Officer (Renewable Energy)—>  Must have at least 3 years experience in the Renewable Energy field. Technical exposure to Wind/Solar/Biomass/Bagasse Co-generation based project and other Renewable Energy based projects. Knowledge of CERC and other SERC Regulation, MNRE and GoM renewable energy policies and determination of tariff for Renewable Energy Projects. Technical and financial evaluation of Renewable Energy Projects. 

Mandatory Conditions:

  • Should possess 60% marks at degree level.
  • Excellent abilities in both spoken and written skills in English.
  • The candidate with outstanding abilities and a flair for writing will be preferred, Good writing abilities in Marathi will be added qualification.
  • Cleared TOFEL/ IELTS exam in the past Two year will be preferred. (In case the candidates have not appeared/cleared, it should be cleared within nine months from
    the date of appointment)
  • Computer literacy is essential.

Age Limit: Maximum 35 years.
