SCI (Shipping Corporation of India) recruitment of Mechanical Engineers/ Naval Architect for the post of Trainee Marine Engineers
Gender Eligibility: Both Male and Female candidates stand Eligible for this job.
Educational Qualification needed: The candidate must have an engineering degree preferably (BE/ Btech) from a college/ University approved BY AICTE and recognised by government of India. Students who are in Final Year of their Engineering degree also stand eligible for this job provided they have already appeared in the final examination and expect their results to be out on or before 31st July 2011. The candidate must have a good academic record with atleast 50% marks in their Engineering degree and minimum 50% marks in English in 10th and 12th.

Hiring Procedure:
The candidates interested and Eligible to apply for this job opportunity will have to appear in All India Written test at their Own expenses and only the candidates selected in the written Test shall be call in for Personal Interview Round in the ratio of 1: 3 (3 candidates per 1 vacancy). Written Test date shall be intimated subsequently.
Candidates shall also have to pass the Mercantile Marine Personality Evaluation Test (MMPE) conducted for this job at various DG shipping Corporation Of India at Mumbai, Chennai and Noida.
Age criteria: Maximum age limit for this vacancy in 28 years (candidates must have been born on or after 1st Jan 1984 ) only are eligible to apply for this job.
Medical Fitness and Eyesight: The candidate must possess sound physical health and Fitness to be Fit for Sea Service as Per MS medical rules. Candidate must have good health and eye sight in general. Defective colour vision (colour blindness) are NOT accepted.
Application Fees: The application fees for candidates belonging to General category is Rs. 1000/- and for SC/ ST is Rs. 500/- as a DD (Demand Draft) which must be drawn in favour of

Job Prospects: After Successful Completion of the Training and Getting the MEO Class IV Part A Certificates of Competency, the candidates shall join as Junior Engineer in either ships owned or Operated by Shipping Corporation Of India. The candidates shall be made permanent after report with MEO CLASS-IV PART “B” certificate. After obtaining necessary sea experience and higher certificates of competence the candidate can rise to the rank of Chief Engineer officer on the ship.
Duration of Training and Course Fees:
The training is for 12 months and fees is approximately Rs.3,00,000/-(Approx. Rs. Three Lacs only) at present. Candidate to pay for these fees directly to the training institute. These fees once paid are not refundable at any stage either in full or part.
