The Indian Navy Invites Unmarried Men to Join the Indian Navy as Short Service Commissioned Officers in Executive Branch (General Service/ Hydro Cadre) Jan 2011 Course.

Eligibility Conditions

Age : Candidate should have age of 19 ½ to 25 years, born between 02 Jan 1986 and 01 Jul 1991; both dates inclusive.

Educational Qualifications :

A candidate should possess any of the following qualification :

  • (a) A Science graduate with Physics & Mathematics with minimum 65% marks from a recognized University.
  • (b) BE/B Tech with minimum 65% marks in aggregate in any discipline from a institution recognized by AICTE.
  • (c) Science graduates (Physics & Mathematics) from a recognized University holding NCC Naval Wing, Senior Division ‘C’ certificate.
  • (d) Graduate/Post Graduate in Operations Analysis and Operational Research/Quantitative methods with minimum 75% marks from recognised university.
  • (e) Graduate/Post Graduate in Mathematics, with Probability or Statistics with minimum 75% marks from a recognised university.

Note: Candidates who have not completed their Graduation (i.e. appearing candidates) need not apply, their application will not be accepted.

Physical Standards

Height and Weight  :  The Candidate’s Minimum height should be 157 cms with correlated weight.

Eye Sight : The minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision 6/12, 6/12 correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses. Should not be colour/night blind.

Selection Procedure :

a) The candidates will be issued call up for Service Selection Board (SSB) based on their performance in Degree Course. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with better percentage, his higher qualification will be considered for cut off. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentage without assigning any reason. No communication will be entertained on this account. SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore/ Bhopal/ Coimbatore during Jun to Oct 2010.

b) SSB interview will be conducted in two Stages. Stage I test consisting of intelligence test, Picture Perception and Discussion test will be conducted on the second day of arrival at SSB. Candidate who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II tests comprising of Psychological testing, Group testing and Interview will last for 04 days. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination (approx duration 03-05 days).

c) Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit will be appointed for training in Order of all India Merit depending on the number of vacancies.

Training :

The training is scheduled to commence in the month of Jan 2011.

Pay Scale & Promotions :

The promotion from Sub Lieutenant to Commander is on time scale basis and thereafter on selection basis subject to fulfilment of requisite service condition. The Pay Scale and promotion criteria is as follows:-
